The pineal gland, also known as the third eye, is a small endocrine gland located near the center of the brain. It produces melatonin, a hormone that affects the modulation of wake/sleep patterns and photoperiodic (seasonal) functions. Development of psychic talents, specifically intuition, has been closely associated with this organ of higher vision. The third eye controls the various bio-rhythms of the body. It works in harmony with the hypothalamus gland which directs the body’s thirst, hunger, sexual desire and the biological clock that determines our aging process.
